Entrepreneur – we simply call him the “good mood” guarantor from the Ruhr area and the inventor of the German pop hit: Olaf Henning!
For about 12 years now, the Gelsenkirchen native has been providing the best mood with his pop hit in the party shops of the republic, Austria and, of course, on the sunny island No. 1 – Mallorca. Olaf Henning also started very small and went to the favorite island of the Germans in 1997 with his first single “Ich bin nicht mehr Dein Clown (Die Manege ist leer)” and visited all cafés and discotheques with the CDs. “Ich bin nicht mehr dein Clown” thus established itself as a discotheque hit and made it into the charts in 1998. This was the way to further success for the pop star. With his singles, “Blind Passenger” and “As Long as We Live”, Olaf remained true to his musical style and the success rewarded him for it. With his first album “Die Manege ist leer” he exceeded expectations and, as with his second “Party album”, secured a placement in the top third of the charts.
Personal contact with his fans is particularly important to Olaf and so he was able to inspire his audience with 250 live performances a year and as one of the most booked artists in the German-speaking countries and also Mallorca. His audience rewarded him when he won the ZDF hit parade in September 2000 with his song “Das Spiel ist aus (Game over)” with an outstanding 38% of the votes. The nomination for the German music award ECHO as “Artist of the Year” in the category “Schlager” was a highlight in the artist’s young career.
With the Schlager legend Michael Holm, Henning released the summer hit 2001 “Maddalena 2001 (Du Luder), which became the party hit of the year in Germany and Mallorca. In 2002, Henning sings with a number of other colleagues such as Fancy, Roberto Blanco, “Big Brother” Jürgen or Jürgen Drews on his album “Freunde”. In January 2003, it was finally time for the first gold record for the Best Of album “Meine ersten fünf Jahre” with 250,000 copies sold. In 2004, Olaf Henning released his extremely successful album “Echt Henning”, which is considered by industry insiders and fans to be one of the best pop Schlager albums ever released in Germany. It is not easy to maintain this high standard, but Henning has managed to offer his spoiled fans top-class pop hits with the albums “Total verboten” in 2005 and “Alles erlaubt” in 207.
With his new edition of “Cowboy und Indianer” at the beginning of 2008, Olaf Henning hit the bull’s eye again. He immediately entered the German charts at number 6 and his single also placed in the top 20 in Austria and Switzerland. His fans bought over 230,000 records and storm his concerts as ever. The logical consequence were numerous awards and honors that the down-to-earth artist has received so far. He experienced one of the highlights and most beautiful rewards of all in 2008 in Dortmund’s Westfalenhalle. There, the lasso king celebrated his 10th stage anniversary with around 15,000 enthusiastic fans and proved once again that the German pop hit is absolutely “in” thanks to Olaf Henning. Henning’s rousing live performances prove again and again that the stage is his “home” and that he spreads fun, joy and good humor at his concerts.
In 2009 it is time for the new single “So eine Nacht”, which already caused storms of enthusiasm in Dortmund and will also be heard on the new album. In addition to the obligatory appearances in après-ski and on Mallorca, the self-confessed S04 fan will also be seen at the “SchlagerNacht aufSchalke” and what is even more important at “Olaf Henning in Concert – The biggest Mallorca party of all times” on October 10 in the VELTINS-Arena.
