Since the age of 15 as a singer and still “feelings of happiness” in the face of this profession – not everyone can say that about themselves. She does: Rosanna Rocci. Rosanna contradicts at one point: “Being a singer is not a profession. I feel it’s a gift that I can do it; that there are people who like me and like to listen to my music. None of this can be taken for granted.” Precisely because she knows this, she is always looking for new ways to surprise people, to develop further, to go new ways. With the album “Glücksgefühle” Rosanna Rocci has definitely succeeded! The thoroughbred musician from Abruzzo holds all the strings in her own hands for the first time. “The album is my baby,” she says, “and there’s nothing better than watching your child grow – but also taking responsibility for it.”
It was a rocky road before she could dare to make such a new album. “I was exhausted,” she admits after her short break from the show of about two years, “and I had to reorient myself. There are people who think Rosanna gets up whistling in the morning and then dances a round on the table.” And then she has to laugh out loud at this idea, which seems so obvious to others and so “assurdo” (absurd) to herself. Singer, mother, family, household – for the perfectionist Rosanna Rocci a large workload, “especially since I always try to get the most out of myself.” So she withdrew. “I’ve read books that are good for me, do meditation, yoga and Pilates and go jogging. I’m gentler with myself today.” The fact that Rosanna is at peace with herself again can also be heard in her music. She wanted a breath of fresh air and new, good thoughts. So now there is a new record company (Edel:Records), a new management, a new team of producers (Michael Buschjan, Burckhardt Eiben) and some new or returning songwriters (e.g. Willy Klüter, Christian Geller, Tobias Reitz, Werner Biermann, Bernd Meinunger, Michael Morgan). For the first time, however, she also found the courage to write songs for herself. “I want my fans to forget everyday life and pass on positive thoughts with my music. We are what we think.”
In early summer, the whole thing started with the first single “Olé Ola (Heißer als Fieber)”, a driving, contemporary number with passionate lyrics just like the title “Perché”. Mediterranean rhythms and sensual stories characterize the majority of the titles (“Bis ans Ende meiner Träume”, “Come stai”), but also the romantic side of Rosanna Rocci finally comes to the fore again (“Die wahre Liebe”, “Bis ans Ende meiner Träume”, “Angeli In Volo”). The ballad “Star of Love” and her version of the San Remo winning song “Non Amarmi” (made internationally famous by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony), which is also included on this album in Italian and for which Rosanna was able to win over her friend and colleague Gino Castelli, a “great person and very creative, talented artist”, provide goosebumps. She herself describes “La Vita é Bella” as the title that “corresponds most to my attitude to life at the moment”. She wrote it herself. With the cover version “Du bist kein Americano (Tu vuo’ fa’ l’americano)” she had already returned to the hit parades last autumn. “The title is a favourite song from my childhood,” Rosanna enthuses. As a bonus track, she has also re-recorded one of her most successful numbers: “Chaka Chaka”, written by her discoverer Hanne Haller. “On YouTube, you can find countless videos from Asia and America, where young and old dance line dancing to it,” says Rosanna, herself amazed by the international popularity of the song.
It is not only with this new recording that Rosanna Rocci returns to her roots. The organetto is also finally back after a few years break. For the first time, Rosanna has even recorded a tarantella with it, which her fans have already experienced at individual live performances. “The piece is so driving and full of energy,” she beams. Her grandfather Vincenco once taught her to play the mini accordion. Rosanna was ten at the time and was bored in her small Italian village, where she lived with her family and where nothing ever happened. With music, things changed. And this feeling that music can make a difference in life: she still lives and experiences that today. Her new album is pure Italian attitude to life, and with side effects: “feelings of happiness”.
