Mickey Thomas is the voice that carried Starship through the eighties. With his powerful, soulful vocals, he is one of the most famous rock singers of his generation.
He became known in 1976 as the lead singer of “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” with the Elvin Bishop Band. In 1979, after the departure of Grace Slick and Marty Balin, he joined Jefferson Starship and sang hits such as “Jane”, “No Way Out”, “Find Your Way Back”, “Stranger” and “Layin’ It on the Line”.
In 1985, the band was renamed Starship and landed three No. 1 hits: “We Built This City,” “Sara,” and “Nothing’s going to Stop Us Now” from the Oscar-nominated film “Mannequin.” “It’s Not Over (‘Til It’s Over),” became the anthem of Major League Baseball in 1987. With videos like “We Built This City” and “Sara,” Starship were regular guests on MTV and VH1.
Starship will play the hits of Starship and Jefferson Starship live, plus some pieces by Jefferson Airplane.
