Born in May 2000 in Remscheid, Pia-Sophie already attracted attention in kindergarten because she has always had that certain something and an incomparable stage presence. After her first experiences in the children’s and church choir, she took part in the first competitions at the age of 14 and also shone on musical stages at the same time. After graduating from high school, she began studying law, but concentrated fully on her greatest passion – music. In 2021, she made it to the final round of “DSDS” and became the highest-ranked singer of the season in fifth place. While the view and follower numbers of her socials have exploded since then and the first videos on the net have already been clicked on millions of times, the Cologne-based and former track and field athlete finally received an offer from producer Alex Christensen to work on her first own songs – laying the foundation for the solo chapter with a fresh signature sound.
“Somehow, due to all the beautiful things I’ve been able to experience in the last few months, time has rushed past me so quickly,” the 23-year-old recently wondered in her socials – and in fact, an incredible amount has happened since the vertical launch of “DSDS” 2021: Last year, after only two opening singles, she already arrived in the biggest primetime shows (Florian Silbereisen’s “Advent Festival of 100,000 Lights”), the 1.85m tall singer now presents her vision and her own sound for the first time on album length. She loves the electrifying energy of dance music, she loves timeless pop hit harmonies – and sometimes she also likes calm, melancholy and very big gestures to articulate her feelings. Special guest of the debut LP is #1 hitmaker Eloy de Jong, who recently celebrated his fifth anniversary as a solo artist.
Pia-Sophie opens her first album with the same ultra-danceable vow of love with which she began this solo chapter: “If not forever/then at least forever”, is the core line of “Ewig”, whose mix of futuristic synthesizers and driving beats takes you directly to the dancefloor.
The title song “Lieblingsmelodien” spirals further and further upwards while the newcomer looks at the distance covered – that’s how stunning and personal an artist’s bio can sound when you turn it into a song.
“Everything looks so festive/Winter magic, happiness”: With poetic lines and an exciting arrangement, Pia-Sophie shows her great love for the musical shortly before the end, her gaze directed at the “moon”: A canvas-sized composition in which producer Alex Christensen can also play out his soundtrack experience, while the attractive singer presents a melancholic counterpart to the carefree euphoria of the opening singles. Together with album guest Eloy de Jong, Pia-Sophie lights “1000 candles”.
