Loona’s path to fame began with her hit “Bailando”: For eight weeks, the song was at the top of the German charts and also reached number 1 in Switzerland and number 3 in Austria. These successes earned eight gold, three platinum and even double platinum awards. As a highlight, Loona was honored in Germany for “Bailando” with the ECHO in the category “Best Dance Single”.
The second single, “Hijo de la luna” (originally by the Spanish band Mecano from 1984), also conquered the top of the German charts and sold an incredible 1.5 million copies. The ballad was recorded with the Orquestra de la Luna, a 40-piece ensemble of Germany’s best musicians. It became the most successful Spanish-language single in the German charts of all time. The successful album “Lunita” produced another single with “Donde Vas”, which confirmed Loona’s firm place in the charts.
The first single from the new album “Entre dos aguas”, “Mamboleo”, was released in 1999, reached the top 3 of the German charts and received gold status. For this song, Loona was awarded the second Echo, again in the category “Best Dance Single”.
Other unforgettable hits by Loona include “Latino Lover”, “Baila Mi Ritmo”, “Viva El Amor” and “Rhythm Of The Night”. In total, over 10 million records have been sold worldwide! Through performances in the USA, Asia, Australia, South Africa and Europe, Loona achieved top 10 placements in various countries worldwide.
