SavaÅŸ Yurderi alias Kool Savas was born in Aachen and, after a few years in Turkey, ended up in Berlin with his family at the age of eleven.
The son of a Turkish father and a German mother, he was politically active in the early 1990s, just like his father, and took part in demonstrations against Nazis.
At the same time, he began rapping in English. He was particularly oriented towards West Coast hip-hop rappers and appeared at hip-hop workshops in the States as the rapper “Juks”.
After his time in the USA, he decided to rap in German and called himself “Kool Savas” using his first name.
His first single “LMS/Schwule Rapper” was released in 2000 and immediately landed on the index. The follow-up “King of Rap” was more successful, but he reached his first chart position in 2001 with “Haus & Boot”, an EP with singer Valezka.
The following year, Savas founded his own label and signed Valezka and rapper Eko Fresh, among others.
His debut album “Der beste Tag meines Lebens” was also released there, with which he climbed to number 6 in the album charts.
In August 2003, Eko Fresh left the label, which was carried out in the media and musically over various tracks. In the course of this, “Das Urteil” by Kool Savas was also released as a free track.
Together with friend and rapper Azad, Kool Savas released the album “One” in 2005, which reached number 5 in the charts and a gold record.
The second solo album “Tot oder lebendig” also reached the Top 10.
Four eventful years later, Kool Savas’ first No.1 album “Aura” was released. In the creative process, Kool Savas worked with Xavier Naidoo, who can be heard on the title song “Aura” as well as in the final track “LMS 2012”.
Both artists released the platinum-winning No.1 album Gespaltene Persönlichkeit and the Bundesvisio Song Contest winning single “Schau nicht mehr zurück” as “Xavas”.
This place at the top of the hit lists should now become a habit for Kool Savas, because from now on each of his albums placed in pole position.
Both the records “Märtyer”, “KKS” and “Aghori” reached number 1.
In 2021, the autobiography “King of Rap” was published – but the success story is far from over…
