Goosebumps from the first note. The Harlem Gospel Choir brings the music of New York’s African-American churches to the stage – and sweeps away every audience, believers or not.
Founded in 1986, the choir has since performed in over forty countries and has worked with U2 and Diana Ross, among others. The repertoire ranges from traditional spirituals to gospel standards to rousing arrangements of well-known soul and pop pieces.
Live, the effect arises from the interplay of choir, solo voices and band – and from the way the audience is involved from the very first minute. At the end there is a hall that claps, sings and laughs. There is a separate Christmas program for the Advent season.
