10,000 Light Years

The cosmopolitan saw the light of day on August 23, 1968 in Edgeware, London. As the son of a renowned cellist and a pianist, his musical talent was laid in his cradle at birth. The separation of his parents was particularly painful for Benjamin. Until the age of 16, he lived with his mother in the Netherlands and kept his head above water with various jobs as a dishwasher or waiter. But that was not the life he had dreamed of from an early age.

Benjamin began studying graphic design in Canada. There he quickly realized that his strengths lay in creativity. And he already had a new goal in mind: Benjamin wanted to become an actor and went to the USA. Later, he returned to the Netherlands, where he took on smaller roles in TV commercials and films. During an audition in 1992, he was discovered by Frank Krom and was invited to a boy band casting without further ado. Benjamin convinced manager Cees van Leeuwen with his talent and became a founding member of the band “Caught in the Act” (CITA) on the same day.

Between 1995 and 1998, CITA released several top ten hits, sold more than 20 million records and were awarded gold and platinum several times. Much to the chagrin of the large fan base, the band was disbanded by the managers and gave their farewell concert on August 16, 1998.

Benjamin decided to move to Cologne, produced his first solo album and celebrated musical success with his singles “Change” and “10,000 Light Years”. On October 12, 2007, his daughter Natalia Sofi Louis Boyce was born and turned Benjamin’s life upside down. “Some things had to change and I took some time off for my daughter.” In October 2012, he released “Whatever you’re looking for…”, a song he dedicated specifically to his young daughter.

Since March 2016, Benjamin has been successfully touring Germany with the hits of “Caught in the Act” on his “One Man One Mission” tour. As a sought-after act at 90s shows, his fans didn’t just want to hear his old hits. Again and again, the question of a new single was asked.

With the release of his current song “I’m Free”, Benjamin Boyce is now fulfilling the greatest wish of his fan base. With the lyrics, he has written part of his life story from his soul, finally feels free and is very excited about the future.
