The creative Safri Duo – consisting of Uffe Savery and Morten Friis – was formed from their long-standing friendship and joint studies at the Royal Danish Conservatory of Music. Since 1988 they have reinterpreted classical compositions for percussion music and performed them internationally.
Her decisive breakthrough came with the change of her style to the dance genre. The highlight of her success was undoubtedly “Played-A-Live (The Bongo Song)”. This hit reached number two in the German single charts in 2001 as well as the top positions in the Swiss hit parade and the Danish charts. Safri Duo performed as a live act at the opening of the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen in the same year.
Their artistic diversity earned Safri Duo the coveted Echo as Best International Dance Act in 2002. In 2005, they were part of the renowned Nokia Night of the Proms tour, where they presented impressive pieces together with an orchestra.
Another notable collaboration was the creation of the soundtrack “Helele” for the 2010 World Cup broadcasts in collaboration with Velile. This was used by broadcasters such as RTL and Swiss television.
