Anyone who went to a club or turned on the radio in Europe, America or Asia in the 2000s was guaranteed to hear one of Alice Deejay’s hits in a timely manner.
It all started in 1999 when a group of young Dutch DJs and producers got together to start a project that sold over 5 million singles and 1 million albums worldwide.
The dance project “Alice Deejay” with the charismatic frontwoman Judy was born and landed a worldwide chart hit with “Will I ever” with the first single.
In Great Britain there were 2 x platinum for the song and the follow-up hits “The Lonely One”, “Back in my Life”, “Celebrate our love” and “Better off alone” also became absolute club and chart hits.
The album “Who needs guitars anyway” also landed in the charts worldwide.
Whether Germany, France, South Africa, Australia or Sweden – in these and many other countries around the world, the dance project has earned high chart positions and associated gold and platinum awards.
In 2002, Alice Deejay’s first success story ended. But the hits continued to be played in clubs around the world and the timeless, positive energy of the songs was further spread.
In 2013, something was in the air, because Shakira knocked. She was working on her new album and wanted to record a new version of “Better Off Alone”. Less than a month later, David Guetta was on the phone, who had just finished recording ‘Play Hard’ (Ne-Yo and Akon) and asked for permission to record the killer hook of ‘Better Off Alone’. The result was another worldwide hit for David and renewed attention for Alice Deejay.
Now Alice Deejay is back at the start – with a new voice and a new face, the DJane and singer Ilona from Amsterdam, managed by the founding fathers of the group – so everything stays in the family…
