Hannah (31) is a proud, strong young woman who knows what it’s like to lie low on the ground and yet get up again. She lives in Mils, a small idyllic village in Tyrol, near Innsbruck. High mountains surround the village and so Hannah is always drawn to the peaks to let her thoughts run free. Hannah is an intelligent, modern but also tradition-conscious woman.
Almost all the songs on the new album “Weiber es isch Zeit” have autobiographical traits, are part of their story and are built close to personal reality. The strong, independent woman is certainly the leitmotif here, but does that make Hannah a “man-eating” feminist? “Well, goar net! I’m actually quite traditional. But my life has shaped me,” Hannah explains. “The album title is combative and goes back to the battle cry ‘Mander es isch Zeit’ by the Tyrolean freedom fighter and national hero Andreas Hofer. There was an urgent need for a female counterpart for this sentence,” Hannah smiles. “It’s time to tell the men’s world that we women are strong, but just as vulnerable and emotional. That’s what makes the modern woman.”
The musical direction of “Weiber es isch Zeit” is diverse. The production, for which Willy Willmann was again at the controls, leaves nothing to be desired in terms of sound. On the one hand there are rocking, pithy firecrackers, often with folk music influences and on the other hand calm, soulful and honest ballads.
The first single “Zoags mir” was already a top 10 success in the Austria airplay charts. It forms the prelude to the album and rolls out the carpet for the follow-up songs, which are rocky-progressive with emotional depth like “I halts nit aus” or rhythmic and spirited like “Soll i die Engerl sein”. Sensitive songs such as “Jetzt oder nie”, “Schön, dass es dich gibt” or rocky-Bavarian songs such as “Die Diandljäger” or “Bua nimm dein Huat” also characterise the musical concept.
