F.R. David

The singer, composer, arranger and producer uses the formula of his friend Ray Charles: “There are two types of music: the good music and the other…”. With previous bands, he played in many clubs and experienced different musical areas. The album “Earth” with Vangelis (in the early 70s) was one of the best experiments in the psychedelic era. In 1974, he went to America as the singer of the French rock band Les Variations, the No.1 French rock band, instead of staying in French musical spheres, looking for new challenges. A year-long US tour (opening for big bands like Aerosmith in stadiums with 20,000 spectators) and the recording of a rock & roll album “Cafe of Paris” for Buddah Records were just 2 of the highlights. For the rest of the decade, F.R. David lived in New York, where he was signed by rock manager David Krebbs. He improved his already matured talent with the “greats” between New York and L.A., such as Michael Kamen, Steely Dan and Toto, using the best and most legendary studios. With these unique experiences in his luggage, the artist decided to return to Paris. In 1982, he immediately started working and then delivered a world hit: Words. This song remained at number 1 throughout Europe for 17 weeks and topped the charts worldwide. More hits followed: “Pick up the phone”, “I need you”, “Girl you’re my song” and “Sahara night”.
