As a tribute to his father, who retired from the stage in the fall of 2006, Wolfgang Petry’s son Achim has been bringing hits such as “Verlieben, verloren…”, “Das ist Wahnsinn” and “Bronze, Silber und Gold” to the stages nationwide live with a band since October 2007 after a one-year break from Petry: “We both found fun in the idea of reviving the name Petry.” Thanks to his unmistakable, expressive voice, his sensitivity for sensitive pitches and a convincing stage presence, the 33-year-old musician confidently stepped out of his father’s legendary shadow with his own album in the fall of 2007 and continues to write the family music history. Full of respect for Wolfgang Petry’s achievement and with the highest musical standards for himself. “Now or never!” is how Achim Petry sums up his stage plans: “The madness continues: Following old traditions, I will follow in my father’s footsteps with the tour program and really let it rip live with the greatest Petry hits and my songs.”
Achim has literally grown into the music business. After his first singing jobs during his school days, his own band projects followed. Born in the Rhineland, he has already asserted himself as a musician several times, regardless of his father’s influential name. A rock musician by training, he has proven over the years in changing formations, as a support act for Westlife and with countless live concerts that he is a thoroughbred musician of international stature. Petry fans know him as the frontman of the band Trademark, which accompanied Wolle Petry as the opening act on the last major stadium tour. Trademark also played solo tours in Asia with GOLD and PLATINUM.
Nevertheless, the professional musician and trained event manager Achim Remling always gained experience at his father’s side as a co-lyricist and co-composer. He wrote Petry titles such as “Jetzt oder nie” and “All die kleinen Dinge” for Wolfgang. And it is precisely all the little things, the eye for the essentials, that make up this special relationship between father and son.
