Gazebo, whose real name is Paul Mazzolini, grew up traveling the world with his parents and coming together from different cultures.
His father, Francesco, was an Italian diplomat and taught Paul five of the eight languages he knew.
His mother Sonya was a singer and passed on her talent for music to him.
Paul settled in Italy in 1974, graduated three years later and went to London, where he built various bands and decided to make a living with music. Back in Rome, he released his first single “Masterpiece” in 1981, the 12″ version quickly became a big hit in the European and Asian dance scene.
In 1983, Paul signed with Baby Records and released his first album “Gazebo”. The song “I like Chopin” reached number 1 in the charts in many countries, including: Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Denmark, Finland, Spain, Belgium, Canada, Japan, Portugal, Hong Kong, Korea, Singapore, Turkey and Top Ten in many other countries, including the UK.
The second album “Telephone Mama” is released in 1984 and although the style of the songs is dramatically different from the first album, it is a bestseller in most of the territories where it is released.
1985 is a rather unfortunate year as Paul has to join the army and this break forces him to rebuild his career on a different and stronger basis in order to develop and improve his musical skills in songwriting, arranging and producing.
He founds Lunatic S.r.l. – his own production company.
In the same year, he released “Univision”, the first album of the new era to be wholly owned by Lunatic.
In 1988, “Rainbow Tales”, the first album recorded in the Lunatic complex, was released, and was also the first step in Paul’s new musical direction, a connection to his musical origins in the progressive pop scene of the seventies.
1989 “Sweet Life” is the first album written, produced and developed entirely by Paul himself. This album contains a special version of a song that Paul co-wrote for Ryan Paris and that became a worldwide hit at the time: “Dolce Vita”…
In 1992, he released “Scenes From The News Broadcast” through his label Lunatic Records. The single “Fire” was selected for a Red Cross charity campaign for the victims of the former Yugoslav civil war and “14th of July” conquered the Latin American dance charts with its hypnotic downbeat tempo.
Further albums and live productions followed, such as the 2013 release “I Like … Live”. A double live album from the Syndrone tour with the best of his 30-year career.
In 2018, “Italo By Numbers” was released, Gazebo’s latest production. Here he recorded a certain number of Italo Disco megahits from the 80′ and re-recorded them using the same analog instruments and techniques that were used to make the songs back then! Tracks that sold millions of copies worldwide, such as “Self Control”, “Tarzan Boy”, “Happy Children”, “Easy Lady”, “Survivor”, “People From Ibiza” and some of his classics such as “I Like Chopin”, “Masterpiece”, “Lunatic” and “Dolce Vita”.
