Two musicians were discovered by the Norwegian producer duo Stargate. Their song “Beggin’” from the album “So Dark the Con of Man”, which was released on December 3, 2007, reached platinum status in Norway and dominated the country’s official charts for 12 weeks. Originally sung by the Four Seasons in 1967, “Beggin’” is a cover version.
Madcon released the track “Glow” during the Eurovision Song Contest 2010 as “Eurovision Song Contest Flashmob Dance” on May 29, 2010. Shortly after, the song reached number 1 in the iTunes sales charts in Germany and went platinum. In the same year, they released “Freaky Like Me”, their third number 1 single in Norway. In Germany, the single reached number 9 and was certified gold. They recorded the track together with Ameerah. Their fourth studio album “Contraband” came out in October 2010. After two pre-release singles, the third single “Outrun the Sun” was released a month later, in collaboration with singer Maad*Moiselle. She was also featured on the last single “Helluva the Night” of the album, together with US rapper Ludacris and Mateo Jasik (Itchy) of Culcha Candela.
In 2011 and 2012, numerous studio recordings followed. In 2013, they released the album “Contakt” exclusively with Norwegian tracks, two of which climbed into the top 20. A year later, they released their sixth studio album “Icon”, which surpassed the success of the previous Norwegian-language album and topped the Norwegian album charts. Shortly before that, “One Life” was released with the American singer Kelly Rowland. The song reached number 6 in Germany. The second single of the album, “The Signal”, came out in September 2013 and also made it into the German single charts.
In the spring of 2015, they released “Don’t Worry” together with singer and rapper Ray Dalton, known for his participation in “Can’t Hold Us”. The track climbed into the top 100 of iTunes before its release through pre-orders alone. The official release outside Norway took place on April 12, 2015. In their home country, the song entered at number 4 and made it to number 2 in the German iTunes charts, but could not overtake “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa.
