A man who shaped the eighties in several ways. As the frontman of Ultravox, Midge Ure recorded “Vienna” in 1981 – one of the style-defining pieces of the New Wave era and still a classic today.
“Dancing with Tears in My Eyes” and “Hymn” followed, and in 1985 he landed a solo number one hit in Great Britain with “If I Was”. Together with Bob Geldof, he wrote and produced “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” for Band Aid and organized Live Aid – the largest benefit concert of his time.
